Truck traffic on McClellan Highway has gotten out of control. Development at Suffolk Downs has only made matters worse. MassDOT is currently conducting a study to repurpose inactive rail parcels along Chelsea Creek in East Boston to create a bypass road for trucks and other vehicles servicing the airport. A new bypass road along Chelsea Creek will not only take trucks off 1A and residential streets, but it will provide public access to the waterfront where there is currently none. #backthebypass

Dear Mr. Britland,
I am reaching out to voice my support of the Path/Freight option for the inactive rail parcels along Chelsea Creek. Transforming these parcels into a bypass road for trucks to more easily access the airport will take trucks off McClellan Highway and East Boston streets. It will also provide residents access the Chelsea Creek waterfront through bike and walking paths, where there are currently none. This option offers the most benefits to residents by reducing truck traffic, making streets safer, and providing residents more ways to access our waterfront.
